Cheran - The Indian Film Director

Cheran is an eminent Indian film director, actress and actor best known for his roles in Tamil cinema. He is an award-winning director of six films and an all-time Tamil film star. Cheran was born in Kerala. He is the grand son of a village priest in the Chera district of Kerala, a fertile land of ancient temples and historic monuments that have been a part of Cheran's life from a young age.

Cheran started working as a writer in the movie industry at the age of thirteen. After studying a bit in college, he joined the production department of a famous Tamil movie, "Vinayaprabhaswamy", which is based on a traditional legend in Cherai and Kerala. Cheran was then hired to direct the movie. He was also involved with the production, editing and even some script reading, before he became a director himself.

Cheran, with his natural talent for story telling, managed to produce a very successful Tamil movie, which went on to be a hit. The movie is called 'Raksha Bandhan'. Cheran won several national and international awards for this film. Some of the awards include the Padma Bhushan and the National Award for Best Director, the National Award for Best Actor, and the Best Screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Cheran's first Tamil movie 'Aneel' was also a success. The movie was based on a true story of a woman from Cherai who fought against the brutal rule of an evil king and was rescued by an army officer.

Cheran also directed a short film called 'Ishkur'. The film was very well received and it earned Cheran enough recognition in the film industry that many film directors chose him to direct their movie.

Cheran has made some of the most memorable films of all times. Cheran's films are some of the most popular Tamil movies ever made.

Cheran has also directed the Hindi film 'The Bounty Hunter' starring Amitabh Bachan and Katrina Kaif. His debut in Hindi film industry has given him much fame and appreciation.

Cheran is a member of the Filmfare Hall of Fame. He is also the recipient of the Padma Bhushan and the National Award for Best Director for his best film, 'Raksha Bandhan'.

Cheran is a popular Tamil writer and an active member of the Tamil film fraternity. Cheran is known to be a lover of classical music. Cheran is also an admirer of jazz, blues and is a keen fan of reggae.
